Finding Bowling Tips and Information Online

It can sometimes be tough to find quality information about bowling on the internet. I've browsed a lot of bowling tips websites and believe me, the quality really does vary. Some of them are plastered with various types of advertisements and don't really share much more than the absolute basics. All good websites these days have a way to post comments and contact the website owner, but many of these poorer quality sites have no such function! I decided to make this post and include a few bowling articles that are genuinely helpful. I may even add more as I find them.

Another good way to find bowling tips online is to search for videos. Many coaches and other bowling enthusiasts have taken the time to create some quality training material, and they can really help your game if you watch. A simple search on Youtube for bowling tips or a particular aspect of bowling should yield some helpful results.

Update: Missing League

Haven't been bowling too much lately, except for one or two casual evenings out with friends. I haven't been without a fall league in three years now, and it's not easy to get by without my weekly trip to the lanes! I said in my last post that I hoped to bowl a few times a month, and I've mostly kept up with that. I'm hoping I'll be able to get out there a few more in the coming weeks. In my defense, I am very busy with school and work this semester and I honestly think I couldn't fit regular bowling into my schedule, but nevertheless, it sucks to be without it! I'm definitely going to re-join a league in the Spring when I will have more time.

No Bowling League This Fall

Unfortunately, I've decided not to bowl in a league this fall as I think I need to focus on other things. Classes are going to be more difficult and I will be working two jobs instead of one. Also, this is my last year before graduation so I'll also need to be thinking about actually getting a job!

But all that said, I won't be abandoning the game; I plan to bowl a few times a month and still will be taking my game seriously. Every session I'll make a point to work on a particular aspect of my game, and evaluate how it went afterward. I think that even without a formal league, I'll have a great time with my bowling this fall!

Bowling in the Summer + Two Fingertip Spin

I've really been enjoying being outdoors so far this summer, but what did I do over the 4th of July weekend? You guessed it, bowling. Well, not the whole time, but I did go out with a few friends on Sunday night to a local alley. (I did spend the 4th itself actually outside...)

Since I was visiting one of my friends for the weekend, I didn't have my ball or shoes, but I didn't let is phase me! I picked the best house ball I could find and just went at it. After two or so frames of straight bowling, I decided to spin with two fingertips. I see a lot of bowlers use this strategy regularly, and while it can look impressive and seem effective, it really isn't a consistent technique.

But for me on this day, boy was it working! We only bowled two games, and I got 200+ for each. In the first game, I got hot and hit about 5 strikes in a row; in the second, I racked up spare after spare, with a few strikes at the end. It felt great, but I couldn't help but miss my own equipment a lot. Oh well, I'm sure there will be plenty more bowling for me this summer!
